Continuous Algae Control
For Ponds

Innovative new technology eliminates nuisance algae
by removing the food from the water column.

  • Improve water clarity.
  • No more nuisance algae blooms.
  • Ideal for small recreational lakes, farm ponds, and golf courses.
  • Safe for swimmers, harmless to fish and wildlife.
  • Alum is not an herbicide, and does not affect rooted aquatic plants.
  • The Sweetwater Microfloc Alum Injection System meters microscopic particles of alum (aluminum sulfate) into the water column, removing the nutrient phosphorous. Alum is a water treatment chemical used as a water clarifier in processing many public drinking water supplies. On contact with water, alum forms aluminum hydroxide ( the major ingredient in Maalox). Aluminum hydroxide reacts with phosphorous making it unavailable as food to the algae.

A small Shore Station meters the alum and air to the microfloc generator(s) in the lake. The generator creates microscopic particles of aluminum hydroxide which stay in suspension in the water column until they react with phosphorous. This results in the thorough treatment of the entire water column.

The system can treat up to 8 acres:
Each microfloc generator can treat 2 acres of water.
Each Shore Station can support up to 4 microfloc generators.
The system is fully adjustable; can easily be set up to run only at night.
It can be installed and maintained by a home owner.
